Group Activities

MANAGEMENT OF UNIT TRUST FUNDS

This activity is undertaken by ASMB’s wholly owned subsidiary, ASM Investment Services Berhad (ASM Investment) which was incorporated in line with the guidelines introduced by the Securities Commission. Under these guidelines, the company activities is restricted to the management of unit trust funds.

The company is among the pioneers in the country in the operation of unit trusts and now operates funds, which caters for Bumiputera and other races. With more than 40 years of experience in unit trust management, the company currently manages 16 unit trust funds and 1 structured fund.

These funds are:-

PROPERTY INVESTMENT AND DEVELOPMENT

In tandem with the Group’s diversification plans, ASMB has identified the property sector as a key area of future growth. The Group’s foray into the property market started in 1993 when it purchased a five storey commercial podium in Kuala Lumpur to house the Group’s operations. Currently, two floors are being rented out to a stock broking company.

In 1996, a wholly owned subsidiary of ASMB, ASMB Properties Sdn. Bhd. (ASMB Properties) was incorporated.

LENDING ACTIVITIES

This activity is undertaken by another wholly owned subsidiary of ASMB, ASM Credit Sdn. Bhd. (ASM Credit) . ASM Credit also provides share financing for both corporations and high net worth individuals.

VENTURE CAPITAL / MEZZANINE FINANCING

ASMB has set up a department to undertake equity investment in unquoted companies through the establishment of a Venture/Mezzanine Capital Fund. ASMB is listed as an approved Bumiputera institution for equity participation in accordance with the Ministry of International Trade & Industry (MITI) and Ministry of Finance (MOF) guidelines. The department seeks high growth and profitable companies to invest in, with the ultimate objective of assisting them to obtain a listing on the Malaysian Stock Exchange (KLSE).
